The purpose of this workshop was to share and validate the outcome of their analysis on most adequate technologies for U-Space and whether or not they meet the needs/requirements as identified.
The TERRA Project addresses the research topic H2020-SESAR-2016-1 RPAS04: Ground-based technology, focusing on the performance requirements associated with the U-Space concept, and identifying the technologies (existing and new) which could meet these requirements. As a result, TERRA will propose a technical architecture to support VLL RPAS operations, which are assumed to encompass interaction with VFR traffic.
In the process to come to a High Level Architecture of the U-SPACE system they have performed a Gap Analysis to identify the most adequate technologies and whether or not they meet the needs/requirements as identified.
GAUSS attended to gather information on such technologies and discuss their potential; focus was put on Navigation technologies, where GAUSS mentioned their work and how data fusion from airborne sensors and multi-constellation&multi-frequency GNSS (GPS, Galileo and EGNOS) offer very good features on accuracy, integrity and availability.
